John D. MacArthur Professor of Physics, MIT · 2001 Nobel Laureate
Biography
Wolfgang Ketterle shared the 2001 Nobel Prize in Physics for the achievement of Bose-Einstein condensation in dilute gases of alkali atoms. His MIT lectures on atomic and optical physics carry the same care for experimental detail that defines his lab.
“An ultracold atom holds still long enough for nature to admit what it's actually doing.”
